College Scholarships

Since 1954, more than 188 high school seniors in Catawba County have been assisted with college tuition expenses through Service League Scholarships. Students receive assistance based on financial need, academic achievement, leadership and work ethic.

The Service League awards

  • $10,000 ($2,500/year for four years) Endowment Fund Scholarships (yearly one [1] or two [2] are given)
  • $10,000 ($2,500/year for four years) Glenn C. Hilton, Jr. Endowment Fund Scholarship* (every other year [in 2011, 2013, 2015 etc.])
*Established 1997 in his memory through the benevolence of Jack Kahn and other friends and associates
  • Other monies yearly as one-time Merit Awards

Application forms can be downloaded here. Completed forms must be submitted to a student's Catawba County High School Guidance Department for consideration no later than Friday, March 9, 2012.

Annually, a portion of the Service League operating budget is pledged to scholarship assistance. In addition, Scholarship Endowment Funds add income to the distribution of funds annually. Donations, honorariums and memorial gifts continue the growth of these funds. These gifts can be mailed directly to Service League of Hickory (or contact us.)

Honor or remember a special person by completing a Service League Honor Card. These cards are available for a donation of $5 or more. All gifts will be acknowledged and are added to Service League Scholarship Endowment Fund investments.
